I don’t know about you but sometimes when I’m around heavily scented people, I’m torn between “Should I gag?” (because I’m you know, PREGNANT) or “Should I wheeze.” What’s really bad is when it happens at the same time.
I’ll never forget when I was newly pregnant and trapped in a large meeting room for a mini-all-hands. I was sitting in the back to stay away from people and the smell of their food when the smokers came in late and sat near me. The smell of a smoker would usually trigger asthma and being newly pregnant triggered the gag reflex.
I almost felt badly trying to explain to the smokers afterwards why I ran out of the room gagging after they sat next to me. Almost. Smoking isn’t a habit I recommend.
I was able to ease the mild asthma by gently breathing in, counting to five, and then breathing out. I could get it up to ten but didn’t want to force it in the beginning.
So, the whole story is leading up to the fact that it’s summer and I wear sunscreen. I tend to break out so I prefer Neutragena brand sunscreen since it’s not heavily scented and it’s neutral so I don’t break out. I’m just doing a PSA that it’s important to remember to protect your skin.
